Rochester Hills, Mich.—July 12, 2017—St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, a community of nearly 2,100 families reaching out and ministering to the needs of the parish, the community and others through worship, education and Christian Service, was pleased to welcome more than 500 parishioners and guests to the parish on June 25, to join in the celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The presider of the anniversary Mass was Archbishop Allen Vigneron of the Archdiocese of Detroit; concelebrating were St. Irenaeus Pastor, Father Brian Chabala; weekend associate Fr. Ray Sayers; and Fr. Michael Green, former Associate Pastor of St. Irenaeus. Reflecting on the Parish’s 50th anniversary, Fr. Chabala expressed his gratitude.
“As we celebrate our 50 years as a parish community, we remember and give thanks to those who built the spiritual and physical foundations of St. Irenaeus Parish,” Fr. Chabala said. “We fondly recall Monsignor Raymond Kuzava and all those who planted the mustard seeds of faith and community, building from what was an empty field in then-Avon Township into our parish family today of over 2,000 households.”
As part of the parish’s year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary, founding members are being honored throughout the year and were lauded for their efforts and treated as VIPS at the June 25 event.
