Troy, Mich. —June 6, 2016—Practice Transformation Institute (PTI), an IACET-certified organization providing the health care community with continuing medical education and customized learning programs that improve patient health outcomes and the individual care delivery experience, will partner with the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) to create the MOA’s new Transformation Academy.
Practice Transformation Institute is Michigan’s leading provider of CME and IACET-accredited experiential learning programs for the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) and other primary care transformation initiatives. The announcement of the initiative was made by PTI founder Ewa Matuszewski, also the CEO of Rochester-based MedNetOne Health Solutions.
“PTI was founded in 2010 with the knowledge that a new kind of training was needed to implement the massive changes shaping the future of health care; holistic training that looks at multi-disciplinary care teams rather than a silo physician approach,” Matuszewski said. “It is a privilege for PTI to now be working with the MOA, a progressive and influential organization advancing team-based care.”
Transformation Academy, with classes offered through PTI and taught by PTI instructors, will provide web-based, blended and classroom style activities to MOA members. MOA has more than 7,000 physician members, many of whom seek education and training opportunities via the MOA. According to MOA CEO and Executive Director Kristopher Thomas Nicholoff, the new venture was prompted by the need for a comprehensive training curriculum on timely and emerging health care concerns that provides interactive and engaging training sessions for busy health care professionals.
“The rapid changes in health care call for robust training programs that focus on interprofessional development for physicians and health care teams,” said Nicholoff. “Our members have attended numerous training programs through PTI and respect their commitment to broad-based experiential learning opportunities that engage participants and inspire measurable change in the physician’s office to improve patient outcomes.”
Transformation Academy curriculum offerings will include:
• Social Determinants of Health – identification and action
• Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA)
• Communication and Team Building
• Chronic Care Management
• Improvisation for Health Care Professionals
