Wyandotte, Mich. — August 20, 2025 — Following a successful inaugural outing in 2024, Mitten Women returned to Crystal Mountain last month to continue its goal to encourage and empower more female credit union and financial services executives to enhance the skills needed for deal-making opportunities. Mitten Women membership is comprised exclusively of executive women in the credit union and financial services industry in Michigan and is modeled after the Illinois-based Galena Girls. It was established by Alicia Bradley of McQueen Financial Advisors in Clawson, Michigan. Carma Peters, president and CEO of Wyandotte-based Michigan Legacy Credit Union, serves on the Mitten Women board alongside Bradley and Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union’s Chief Experience Officer Barbara Mills. Peters was inspired to assist Bradley in the creation of Mitten Women after experiencing Galena Girls.
“There was a wonderful, unified energy at Mitten Women this year,” Peters noted. “With a group almost double the size of last year, we were able to build and strengthen personal and professional connections both on and off the golf course.”
31 leaders from across Michigan joined the Mitten Women gathering, held July 28-30, 2025 at Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville, Michigan. Golfers of any skill lever were welcome, and the gathering included intentional networking, an executive speaker, a charity raffle and of course, a round of golf.
In addition to golf and fellowship, Mitten Women has a charitable component. Each year, a nonprofit is selected to be the benefactor of the funds raised from the Mitten Women’s raffle baskets. This year, Mitten Women raised $11,590 and selected Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit to be its benefactor. Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit is an organization in Royal Oak, Michigan whose mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care.
