Rochester, Mich. – June 20, 2023 – MedNetOne Health Solutions (MedNetOne) is no stranger to helping the community. The Rochester, Michigan-based physician organization, which serves a patient population of nearly 30,000 through its 900+ private practice physicians and other independent care providers, has always had a keen focus on providing primary care services at the community level. In that spirit, MedNetOne staff members recently turned its focus to a Macomb County nonprofit, Turning Point, for a volunteer purse donation drive.
Turning Point, based in Mount Clemens, has a 40+ year history serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking. In becoming better acquainted with Turning Point through its community involvement and social media posts, MedNetOne sought to help the organization serve its mission, according to MedNetOne CEO Ewa Matuszewski.
“The MedNetOne staff collected over 125 new and gently used purses and filled them with hygiene products like toothbrushes, toothpaste and hand sanitizer to donate to survivors served by Turning Point,” Matuszewski said. “What started as a small initiative ended up greatly exceeding our expectations. We are pleased so support such a hardworking and worthwhile organization.”
MedNetOne also had the opportunity to work with Turning Point through the organization’s involvement with the Community Health Worker (CHW) education program developed by MedNetOne’s nonprofit learning organization, Practice Transformation Institute (PTI). Two Turning Point staff members participated in the program, which wrapped up its first cohort session in May 2023.
Turning Point serves both female and male survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking by offering a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, transitional housing, free clothing and goods via its Second Hand Rose thrift store, and more. It serves Macomb County and surrounding areas.
