Rochester, Mich. –April 22, 2021– MedNetOne Health Solutions (MedNetOne), a health care management organization offering infrastructure, technology, and clinical services to more than 900 private practice physicians and other independent care providers, is continuing its outreach efforts to vaccinate various ethnic communities in the Detroit area through COVID-19 pop-up vaccination clinics managed by MedNetOne staff. The next pop-up will be held Saturday, April 24 at the at the Philippine American Cultural Center in Southfield.
As a Polish immigrant who came to the U.S. as an infant with her parents, MedNetOne CEO and co-founder Ewa Matuszewski is keenly aware of the social determinants of health that impact immigrants and first-generation families.
“I am bi-lingual and bi-cultural and have always maintained strong ties with the Polish community in and around Detroit,” Matuszewski said. “I’m drawn to help find solutions to the challenges that the healthcare system can pose for immigrants and non-native speakers, and I saw a particular need for our team of clinicians and member physicians to help increase vaccinations among Greater Detroit’s Asian community.”
In addition to the Filipino community, MedNetOne has held pop-up vaccination clinics for the Korean, Chinese, Hmong, Thai, and Vietnamese communities. Saturday’s COVID-19 Vaccine Pop-Up Clinic at the Philippine American Cultural Center in Southfield is set to be busy. Currently, 205 people are scheduled for their second dose and 72 people between 16-18 years of age are scheduled for their first dose.
Originally founded in part to fill a need for foreign-born private practice primary care physicians who couldn’t easily access traditional POs, MedNetOne actively recruits Black and ethnic health care provider members, including physician leaders of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). With a new energy and focus on equity in the U.S., Matuszewski recently created an implicit/unconscious bias training program for the Michigan Osteopathic Association that is targeted to physicians and health providers and covers not only race, but ethnicity and religion.
