Ewa Matuszewski among healthcare leader panelists examining factors that contributed to practices’ success in a pandemic

Rochester, Mich. – July 27, 2020 – Ewa Matuszewski, CEO of MedNetOne Health Solutions (MedNetOne)—a health care management organization offering infrastructure, clinical and technology services to nearly 1,000 private practice physicians and other independent care providers including behavioral health specialists—participated on a panel of healthcare leaders hosted by the Primary Care Collaborative (PCC) as part of its July webinar, The Secret Sauce: How Some Primary Care Practices Are Surviving COVID-19. PCC is a non-profit organization focused on primary care and the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
Matuszewski has been in the trenches with her primary care practice members as they struggle with financial issues, staff layoffs, insufficient personal protection equipment (PPE) and other COVID-19 issues threatening a practice’s viability.
“The Ides of March, March the 15th, will always be the defining date where we discovered our practices were being challenged because of the lack of PPE,” Matuszewski said. “They were already changing their non-emergent visits, and we were finding things were changing radically in our community.”
As a result, MedNetOne developed its own COVID-19 response team to take a proactive approach to meeting the needs of its members and their patients. The team worked on providing PPE packages to physicians and patient populations (which ultimately involved obtaining import licenses), created a dashboard analyzing trends and locations, deployed CARE teams to do follow up outreach to patients and their caregivers, and introduced a back-to-work playbook and best practices training video that provided steps to safe office re-openings.
