Rochester, Mich. – November 13, 2017 – Ewa Matuszewski, CEO of Rochester, Mich.-based MedNetOne Health Solutions, a health care management organization offering infrastructure, clinical and technology services to more than 800 private practice physicians and other independent care providers, was a presenter at the Michigan Osteopathic Association’s 13th Annual Autumn Scientific Convention. The conference was held Nov. 2-3, 2017 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Matuszewski spoke on MACRA (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act). Created from bipartisan legislation that was signed into law in April 2015, MACRA introduced the Quality Payment Program, which provides value over volume Medicare payments to clinicians, ends the Sustainable Growth Rate formula, and gives physicians new tools, models and resources to help them give their patients the best possible care. Additionally, MACRA gives bonus payments to clinicians participating in eligible alternative payment models and streamlines multiple quality programs under the new Merit Based Incentive Payments System (MIPS).

Matuszewski acknowledge to attendees that MACRA is complex, but noted its approach is aligned with the Triple Aim of healthcare: better care, healthier people and smarter spending. Under MACRA, physicians can choose how they want to participate based on their practice size, specialty location or patient population. To learn more about MACRA, visit the CMS website.

Matuszewski, who writes a monthly column called On Point with POs for Healthcare Michigan magazine, is a frequent speaker and panelist at the state and national level on topics involving advanced primary care initiatives such as the Patient-Centered Medical Home, team-based care and care management, as well as the staffing, training, infrastructure and technology needs for physician office management.
