Rochester, Mich. – June 30, 2021 – MedNetOne Health Solutions (MedNetOne) co-founder and CEO Ewa Matuszewski served as a panelist on the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)’s Virtual Care workshop on June 24. The workshop consisted of two breakout sessions, the first focused on the evolving landscape around telehealth and remote patient monitoring, and the second focused on consumer health and interoperability.

Matuszewski was joined by three additional panelists:

  • Khan Nedd, M.D., President/Owner of Infusion Associates and CEO of Answer Health
  • Aneesh Chopra, President of CareJourney and appointed in 2009 by President Obama as the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer of the United States
  • Amy Mackenzie, M.D., MBA, Associate Chief Medical Officer of Provider Engagement at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

The key takeaway from the telehealth breakout was reinforcement on how critical interoperability is to the success of telehealth and remote patient monitoring. The breakout on consumer health and interoperability emphasized that, while there has been an increase in access to information for patients, there still needs to be a translation element so patients can actually understand the information being presented to them. There was also discussion on how HIPAA comes into play – or doesn’t – when dealing with mobile apps.

“These conversations are critical to support the independent primary care physicians,” Matuszewski said. “As technology continues to evolve and patient access to health information increases alongside new, corresponding regulations, providers and healthcare information experts need to partner and collaborate to ensure the best care is provided to patients, while also keeping health information secure.”
