Rochester/Lapeer Mich. –June 15, 2016 –Mattina, Kent & Gibbons, P.C. (MKG), a Michigan-based CPA firm providing audit, accounting, tax and business consulting services to a variety of industries, is offering a seminar on the new overtime rules and other facets of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) on July 20 at Walsh College in Troy.

Last month, the Department of Labor (DOL) released its highly anticipated change to the FLSA overtime rules, almost doubling the minimum salary for the overtime exemption threshold to $47,476 for salaried workers. Businesses were bracing for the change, which goes into effect Dec. 1, and now have to plan for compliance.

“The new overtime salary threshold has many businesses anxious about meeting the law’s requirements while keeping payroll, the largest cost for most businesses, manageable,” Vince Mattina, Jr., CPA and managing partner of MKG, said. “We are pleased to help update clients and others in the business community who want to stay current and compliant on this new FLSA requirement.”

The seminar presenter is Randy Whitmire, a former federal agent and investigator who brings more than 40 years of combined experience in business, federal labor law enforcement and the military to his audiences.
