Mount Clemens, Mich. – August 1, 2024 Turning Point, an agency whose mission is to empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking through comprehensive services and resources while advocating for community action to end oppression and violence, is excited to celebrate National Thrift Shop Day at its resale shop, Second Hand Rose, on Saturday, August 17. The store will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 36660 Gratiot Ave in Clinton Township.

“Second Hand Rose is a critical component of Turning Point’s services. The proceeds not only benefit our organization’s efforts, but the store serves as a place for survivors to shop free for items like clothing and other necessities,” Turning Point’s President and CEO, Sharman Davenport, Ph.D., noted. “Additionally, Second Hand Rose supports Turning Point’s housing programs, where survivors can live for up to two years, by providing furniture, beds, and many other household items such as kitchen appliances, lamps, and linens.”

Second Hand Rose isn’t just celebrating National Thrift Shop Day for one day – they are celebrating all month. For all of August, the entire store, excluding purple tags, is 50% off.

With back-to-school dollars tight, there’s never been a better time to go thrifting. A trip to Second Hand Rose is a win for everyone – thrifters save money and enjoy their finds while Turning Point raises much needed funds. It is a great community resource to find gently used or even new items at a significantly reduced cost, especially for those looking for furniture and décor to furnish a new space.

Second Hand Rose is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with a variety of weekly specials (some exclusions apply).

  • Tuesdays: 25% off from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: Senior Discount Day (55 and older) – 25% off all day
  • Thursdays: Before Supper Sale – 25% off from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Fridays and Saturdays: Color of the Week sale – $5 for five clothing color items & 50% off household goods

Donations are accepted Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until maximum capacity is reached, and Turning Point also offers donation pick up for larger items. The store is always looking for dedicated volunteers to help accept donations, greet customers, along with a variety of other tasks. Volunteers can apply here.
