Mount Clemens, Mich. – April 2, 2024 –  Turning Point, an agency whose mission is to empower domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking survivors through comprehensive services and resources, will host its eighth annual fundraiser, Stepping Out with the Stars, in partnership with the Arthur Murray Dance Studios of Sterling Heights and Royal Oak, on Thursday, May 2. The event will be held at the Palazzo Grande Banquet & Event Center, 54660 Van Dyke, Shelby Township.

The evening will be full of energy, ushered in by emcee Jessica Dupnack of Fox 2 Detroit. As part of the event, Turning Point supporters professionally dance to help raise funds for the organization. This year’s dancing stars include some faces that may be familiar, including Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel; Tam Flake, Vice President, Government Banking Sales Manager at Mercantile Bank; Anne Gierlowski, Forensic Scientist at Michigan State Police; and Ashley Haack, Realtor at REALTEAM Real Estate. Turning Point is pleased to welcome back presenting sponsor Acrisure, The Huttenlocher Group, an insurance provider based in Waterford Township and owned by long-time Turning Point supporter Jim Huttenlocher.

“Acrisure, The Huttenlocher Group is very pleased to be able to support Turning Point and Stepping Out with the Stars again. This event raises much needed funds to help support the important mission of Turning Point,” Huttenlocher shared. “We are honored to be able to partner with Turning Point to help those who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking and recognize the great need in our community to raise awareness. We applaud the dancers, organizers, and Turning Point for all they do to make the evening a success.”

Turning Point President and CEO Sharman Davenport, Ph.D. is excited to welcome returning and new supporters to Stepping Out with the Stars after a record attendance at the 2023 event.

“We look forward to gathering again with Turning Point supporters who advocate for our mission,” Davenport commented. “With hundreds of people in the room, it is a great opportunity to get the word out about our important services and to meet and support some of the survivors we assist.”

Additional sponsors include Huntington Bank, Ascension Macomb Oakland, Mercantile Bank, and Hour Media. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event starts at 6 p.m. With a limited number of available tickets, advance ticket purchase is required.
