Rochester, Mich. – February 27, 2017 – Mark Lazar, director of  corporate affairs at Rochester-based MedNetOne Health Solutions, a health care management organization offering infrastructure, clinical and technology services to more than 800 private practice physicians plus other independent care providers, used his leadership skills to coach the USA Curling Junior National Team, TeamStopera, to a silver medal win at the World Junior Championships, held from Feb. 16 to 26 in South Korea. The World Junior Championships also serve as a test event for the 2018 Olympic winter games.

Lazar, 39, who joined MedNetOne in 2013, initially led the curling team to its national championship in Fargo, North Dakota in January 2017.  He was an Olympic curling trials competitor in 2006 and remains a nationally ranked curling athlete. Lazar coached the team with the support of his boss and colleagues. Ewa Matuszewski, CEO of MedNetOne and a curling fan who learned the game when one of her daughters played, believes that coaching or participating in the Olympics is a national honor.

“Our Olympic athletes and coaches are representing the United States and it’s a tremendous honor to do so,” Matuszewski said. “Mark is such a valued member of the MedNetOne team – we were pleased and excited to support him in his efforts to bring home an Olympic medal for TeamStopera USA Curling Junior National team.”

Curling is a sport where players slide stones weighing 38 to 44 pounds on a sheet of ice towards a target segmented into four concentric circles. Follow Team Stopera on Twitter @TeamStopera @usacurl and @mlazar11. To learn more about Team USA Curling, visit the website.
