Farmington Hills, Mich. —May 6, 2020— Child Safe Michigan, an affiliate of multi-county social service agency Judson Center providing foster care, adoption and mentoring services to neglected and abused children in Southeast Michigan, received an early #GivingTuesdayNow donation on Monday, May 4. That’s when Kelle Ilitch personally donated nearly 100 Little Caesars pizza kits, each including fixings for three pizzas, to Child Safe Michigan for distribution to its foster care and adoptive parents and families.

The pizza kits were dropped off at the Royal Oak campus of Judson Center for easy distribution to families via its circle drive. Staff members from both Child Safe Michigan and Judson Center joined Kelle Ilitch in the distribution.

“We are so grateful to Kelle Ilitch for arranging this donation,” Khadija Walker-Fobbs, Chief Strategy Officer for Judson Center, said. “She not only provided food for our foster care and adoptive families, but helped kick-off May as National Foster Care Month. These special parents are our ‘essential workers’ during the pandemic and year-round, and we are so appreciative of the role they play in children’s lives.”

In other news, Child Safe Michigan pivoted its annual Legends of Tomorrow Gala to a virtual fundraising campaign this year amid ongoing COVID-19 precautions.  The signature gala, originally scheduled for May 15 at the Townsend Hotel, is Child Safe Michigan’s primary fundraiser, with monies raised going directly to protect and support children who have suffered abuse and neglect and, through the efforts of Child Safe, are kept safe and placed in nurturing and loving homes.

Child Safe Michigan now offers three ways to support its Legends of Tomorrow campaign:

  • Make an impactful donation that is 100% tax-deductible
  • Become a sponsor with an ad in the virtual program book and recognition on the website
  • Bid on premium silent auction items. Bidding will take place through May 15
