Birmingham, Mich.—July 28, 2025 –Alexander Ayar, a shareholder with Birmingham-based full-service business law firm Williams Williams Rattner & Plunkett (WWRP), has been named to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2025 list of Go To Lawyers in Business Litigation. Ayar and other honorees are featured in the publication’s July 28, 2025, edition.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, a “Go To Lawyer is:

  • A lawyer who is an expert in their field, well-versed in the nuances of the case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter.
  • A lawyer who is experienced and enjoys a record of success, with many cases that give testimony to the quality advice the lawyer can provide.
  • A lawyer to whom other lawyers make referrals because of their experience and accomplishments.
  • A lawyer who can think creatively and identify all options for a client.
  • A lawyer you would name when a friend from another state calls because they have a client who needs legal help in Michigan.

Ayar’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation disputes. He serves clients from large corporations (domestic and foreign) and closely held businesses, to start-ups and individuals. His many client wins are often memorable, high-stakes cases. For example, with tens of millions of dollars at stake, Ayar successfully defended an entrepreneur, his spouse, and his business, securing a dismissal after revealing the plaintiffs engaged in fraud. He successfully represented a well-known rock band in a month-long trial and later learned the jury nicknamed him “The Ninja” because of his cross-examination and presentation skills.

In another impressive victory, Ayar successfully wrote and argued a JNOV Motion. He was hired after a multi-day jury trial and after a significant money judgment was entered against his soon-to-be clients. In less than two weeks, Ayar thoroughly evaluated the trial transcripts and wrote a JNOV Motion that was granted by the Oakland County Circuit Court, dismissing all claims against his clients. The ruling was affirmed on appeal. In another example, Ayar persuaded the court to enforce non-compete agreements against key employees who wrongly claimed his client never presented them with the restrictive covenants. On behalf of a bank, he secured the appointment of a receiver to run a struggling business customer, ultimately leading to payment of all damages to the bank, including attorney’s fees. And, in a noteworthy case against a wind turbine company, Ayar negotiated a favorable settlement for his Chinese manufacturer client after uncovering an underlying email fraud scheme.

Ayar’s practice also includes appellate advocacy. In one matter spanning six years of litigation prior to his involvement, a court held a high-level auto executive in contempt, issued a bench warrant for his arrest, entered a multimillion judgment against him, and dismissed the executive’s appeal. After the executive retained Ayar as his counsel, Ayar convinced the Court of Appeals to reinstate the appeal and persuaded the Appellate Court that the trial court lacked subject matter jurisdiction. All orders, judgments, and even the bench warrant against the executive were ruled unenforceable and vacated.

Active in legal and civic organizations, Ayar is currently a multi-term member of the Judicial Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for The Eastern District of Michigan, where he participates in a process of vetting and recommending individuals to fill federal district court vacancies, which ultimately reach the White House for consideration in making judicial appointments.

Ayar is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, where he serves on the Character and Fitness District Committee. He also previously served on the State Bar of Michigan’s Judicial Qualifications Committee and Client Protection Fund Committee.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, and the Oakland County Bar Foundation. A long-time member of the Chaldean American Bar Association, Ayar previously served as president of the organization.

In addition to the Go To Lawyer acknowledgement, Ayar’s legal recognition includes repeat honors as a Michigan Super Lawyer, Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star and DBusiness Magazine Top Lawyer, all in business litigation. He was also named an Oakland County Executive Elite 40 under 40 in 2018 and, in 2016, an Up and Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly and an Attorney on the Rise by the Chaldean American Bar Association. Also in 2016, Ayar received a special tribute from Michigan’s House of Representatives, acknowledging his “advanced legal acumen, devotion to clients, and an exemplary reputation in the legal field.”
