Detroit —November 14, 2017—Rogelio Landin, a seasoned leader in community building and facilitating cross border business relationships, has been named Executive Director of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Great Lakes Chapter (USMCOC-GL).  Established in March 2017, USCMCOC-GL is based in Detroit and serves its membership base in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Ontario, Canada. It is the newest regional office of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Landin’s experience includes serving most recently as founder and president of PerformancED, a Detroit-based data-driven technology solution aimed at improving educational outcomes for urban, at-risk students. PerformancED was the first minority-owned enterprise to be granted a national partnership with the National Head Start Association.  Landin’s leadership of PerformancED continues.

From 2012 to 2014, Landin served as Chairman of the Board for Matrix Human Services, a non-profit early childhood and human services agency; during his board leadership Matrix won the largest 0-5 Early Head Start pilot research grant in the nation, $150 million.

An early advocate for inclusion of historically disadvantaged diversity groups seeking access and parity to contracting opportunities, Landin’s private sector career includes Changeover Program Coordinator for Essex Wire; Maquiladora Program Coordinator for United Technologies; and International Systems Developer for DSA of America.

From 1987 to 1992, Landin represented Mexico’s Tier One supply chain trade association, Industria Nacional de Autopartes, in the North American OEM market.  During this period, he also consulted with Bancomext and other stakeholders regarding Mexico’s bridge loan application to the World Bank. In the energy arena, he served as Director, International Marketing and Sales for Mexan, Inc. His experience includes serving on the Greater Houston Partnership and the International Trade committee, engaging Latin American energy ministers and working with the Inter-American Chamber of Commerce.

Timothy Finerty CPA, a shareholder at Clayton & McKervey and practice leader for the firm’s Mexico and Latin America practice, is a founding board member of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Great Lakes Chapter.  He welcomed Landin to the Chamber.

“Rogelio Landin’s diverse experience in building cross border business relationships and his broad-based leadership experience in the public and private sector make him well qualified to direct and grow the activities and prominence of the new Great Lakes Chapter of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.  I look forward to working with him as the Chamber positions itself to make an impact in the Great Lakes region it serves,” Finerty said.

Active in civic and charitable groups, Landin is a resident of Detroit. He attended Eastern Michigan University.

About the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce

A group of distinguished Mexican and U.S. businessmen established the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce (USMCOC) in 1973 as a 501 (c) (6) non-profit business association chartered in Washington, D.C., to promote trade, investment and joint ventures on both sides of the border. All chapters and offices, with strong local membership and international contacts, help businesses bridge differences in legal, regulatory and economic systems, as well as language and culture.
