Rochester, Mich. —July 23, 2013 – Rochester Rotary, a member club of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service and encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, is hosting its annual golf outing on Aug. 12 at the exclusive Oakland University Sharf Golf Course.

“The golf outing is one of our largest fundraising events of the year and helps us support many local and global organizations through scholarships, education and medical missions,” said Jay Eastman, M.D., president of the Rochester Rotary Club. “For Rotarians and the community to have the chance to play on the private and highly regarded Sharf Golf Course is an added bonus.”

The golf outing begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be played in four-person scramble teams. Tickets are $160, which includes lunch, dinner, 2 drink tickets, free driving range balls, best scores for men, women and mixed teams, longest drive for men and women, a hole-in-one contest and closest to the pin contest. Lead, hole and prize sponsorship opportunities are still available.

In addition to the golf outing, the wildly successful golf ball drop will return for the second year. Rotarians and the general public are able to purchase golf balls to drop from a helicopter that flies above the practice range at the Oakland University golf course. The drop will take place at 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 12 and the ball closest to the pin receives at $5,000 cash prize. Golf balls are $25 for a single ticket or five tickets for $100. The ticket number is then written on the golf ball prior to the drop and participants need not be present for the drop to win. Approximately 800 golf balls were sold last year, raising more than $17,000.
