Detroit-–-July 13, 2017-–-Deborah Brouwer, a partner at Detroit-based management side labor and employment law firm Nemeth Law, P.C., has joined the Board of Directors for the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel (MDTC), an association of attorneys in Michigan dedicated to representing individuals and corporations in civil litigation.  Nicholas Huguelet, a senior attorney at the firm, has been named co-chair of the MDTC’s labor and employment section, a position Brouwer held before being named to the Board.

Brouwer has extensive experience in the defense of lawsuits against employers, including claims of race, age, religion, national origin, gender and disability discrimination, harassment and retaliation, in addition to FLSA, FMLA and non-competition suits. She provides harassment training, conducts discrimination and harassment investigations for employers, and has appeared before both administrative agencies and Michigan courts. Brouwer holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction as well as a Master of Arts from the University of Michigan.  She received her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University School of Law.

Huguelet has represented clients before federal and state courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators in both Michigan and Ohio. He has experience representing and counseling both private and public sector clients in collective bargaining, employment disputes, and statutory and regulatory compliance.  He graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics, and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2010.
