Southfield, Mich. — Jan. 8, 2015 — Neil Rockind, founder of Southfield-based criminal defense law firm, Neil Rockind, P.C., has been named among the Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorneys in Michigan by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys (NACDA). The NACDA’s annual independent selection process begins with peer nominations followed by the NACDA Board of Governors reviewing eligible candidates and naming the top 10 attorneys who demonstrate “extraordinary knowledge, skill, experience, expertise and success in their practice of criminal defense.”
Separately, Rockind was also named a Leading Lawyer in the Michigan debut listing for 2014-2015. Based on a survey conducted by Leading Lawyers, a division of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, the Leading Lawyer designation identifies lawyers most often recommended by their peers; lawyers cannot nominate themselves or anyone at their own firm.
Rockind has more than 20 years of experience as a prosecutor and defense attorney and litigator, representing a wide array of defense clients in Michigan. He has noted expertise in cases ranging from drunk driving to complex federal cases, and his high profile cases include the Basketbrawl (Piston v Pacer) assault case at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Nov. 2004.
In addition to his case work, Rockind serves as a legal expert for WDIV Local 4 News and is a contributing author for Michigan Model Criminal Jury Instructions.
Rockind holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
