Auburn Hills, Mich. – June 22, 2015 – Michigan-based Munetrix, a data aggregator offering a comprehensive suite of reporting, management and forecasting tools designed to meet the financial management and transparency needs of states, municipalities and schools, announces a partnership with the Michigan Municipal Services Authority (MMSA) for shared data services.

The Michigan Municipal Services Authority is a “Michigan public body corporate” created in 2012 through an Interlocal Agreement between the cities of Grand Rapids and Livonia. The Authority is a “virtual” city empowered to exercise the common powers, privileges, and authority of the founding cities but has no geographic boundaries. Its purpose is to engage in cooperative activities with local governments and other public agencies.

Through the partnership, MMSA will sponsor three of its participants, the City of Grand Rapids, Genesee County and Kent County, to foster improved transparency for their citizenry by providing deeper access to Munetrix data. These communities will also get a discount on any upgrade packages licensed and offered by Munetrix to model and use for business analytics, benchmarking and planning.

“There is so much data available for government decision making, yet gaining access to the data without a specialty provider is difficult and time consuming” Bob Kittle, President of Munetrix, said. “MMSA understands the value of collaboration and knows that easily accessed, shared data and informed decision-making help build a stronger Michigan.”

MMSA Chief Executive Officer Robert Bruner says the partnership with Munetrix will enable participants to tap into best practices in data sharing.

“MMSA was established to increase collaborative activity and purchasing power among Michigan’s local governments,” Bruner said. “With this partnership, we are exploring the opportunity to share the cloud based data services offered by Munetrix with Grand Rapids, Genesee County and Kent County and I’m confident they will find value in the data analysis this opportunity brings.”
