Rochester, Mich. – Aug. 4, 2014 – MedNetOne Health Solutions, a Michigan-based physicians’ organization and healthcare management services provider, will serve as a beverage sponsor at the Rochester KidzKare, Inc. Back to School Bonanza on Aug. 23, a free health and wellness event for greater Rochester area children up to age 18 that are un-insured or have Medicaid.

As the beverage sponsor for the event, MedNetOne Health Solutions will be presenting a hands-on sugary beverage demonstration to educate children and parents on how much sugar is in pop, juice, Gatorade and other popular drinks. After learning about the amount of sugar added to these beverages, MedNetOne Health Solutions exercise specialist and certified wellness practitioner, Erin Olsen, will provide samples of alternative, sugar-free beverages that can be homemade with fruits and vegetables.

“Especially in the summer months, most understand the importance of staying hydrated,” Olsen said. “However, many times people reach for the wrong beverage options to quench their thirst. Our goal is to help educate Rochester area children and families about smart drink options that not only keep them hydrated, but are healthy and taste good too.”

Olsen works with MedNetOne Health Solutions’ kids and teens healthy lifestyle program, R-Team (Reshaping thru Exercise, Attitudes, and Meals) facilitating multiple demonstrations on nutrition and exercise in collaboration with the program’s multidisciplinary team.

“The sugary-beverage demonstration is just a “taste” of what R-Team does. Our mission is to provide a fun and comfortable place for kids and parents to learn how to live a healthy lifestyle,” Olsen said.

The Back to School Bonanza event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority (RARA) Building located at 500 E. Second St., Rochester 48307.
