Detroit — July 15, 2016 — The French-American Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Chapter (FACC Michigan), expressed its sorrow and shared its solidarity with the French people following yesterday’s horrific attack in Nice through a statement from Cedric Ballarin, FACC Michigan president and president of FNK North America Co., Ltd., a joint venture between France-based Faurecia Automotive Seating and Japanese-based NHK.

“The French American Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Chapter, shares in the mourning of this tragic and senseless loss of life in France. We are stunned and deeply saddened by yet another direct attack on our lives, our liberty and our culture,” Ballarin said. “Detroit and Michigan have a long and supportive history with France and we thank all of our Michigan friends, colleagues and business partners who are again expressing their support and compassion following this devastating incident,” Ballarin said.

Coincidentally, the French Boys’ Choir, La Maîtrise des Hauts de France, visiting the U.S. from France, will present a previously scheduled concert at Ste. Anne de Détroit Catholic Church in Southwest Detroit on Saturday, July 16. The concert is open to the community at no charge. In solidarity with the people of Nice, France, the parish will hold a mass at 5:00 p.m. and vigil at 6:00 p.m., prior to the French Boys’ Choir concert at 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, and as previously scheduled, the French Boys’ Choir will perform at the occasion of a bilingual French and English mass held in celebration of the 2016 novena to Ste. Anne de Détroit on Sunday, July 17 at noon. Ste. Anne de Détroit parish, which was established by the city’s founders in 1701, is located at 1000 St. Anne Street, Detroit, where the magnificent 1887 church stands as witness to the long and rich French history of the region.
