Southfield, Mich. – Nov. 6, 2013 – Plante Moran, one of the nation’s largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, announced that Dean Rocheleau, J.D., CPA, will serve as office tax director of Plante Moran’s new Detroit office, which is scheduled to open Nov.18 in the Compuware Building.

Rocheleau, who joined Plante Moran in 1980 and became a tax partner in 1989, is currently based in the Southfield office. His practice has an emphasis on real estate and construction and he has specialized expertise in the taxation of limited liability companies, partnerships, and S corporations and their owners.

Rocheleau, a West Bloomfield resident, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Western Michigan University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metropolitan Detroit (Past President), the American Bar Association – Taxation and Real Property, Probate and Trust Sections, the State Bar of Michigan – Taxation and Real Property Sections, and the Oakland County Bar Association – Taxation and Real Estate Committees (two time past chairperson of Taxation Committee). Rocheleau is also treasurer of the Lighthouse of Oakland County board of trustees.

Approximately 50 staff are expected to occupy Plante Moran’s new Detroit office in November. The office, which will occupy 15,000 square feet on the third floor of the Compuware Building, will have a strong manufacturing, distribution, service and real estate industry mix and a complementary balance of not-for-profit, government and employee benefit plan teams. Dianne Wells, CPA, who has a large tax practice and is the leader of Plante Moran’s retail dealer industry, one of the largest practices in the nation focused specifically on assisting auto dealers with a broad range of financial and business issues, will lead the Detroit office as office managing partner. In addition to Wells and Rocheleau, other Plante Moran staff taking a leadership role in their respective areas in the new office are:

The Detroit office will be the firm’s seventh office in southeast Michigan. Plante Moran’s other area offices are located in Ann Arbor, Auburn Hills, Clinton Township, Flint and two in Southfield.
